The Patriarchate will not grant accreditation to Formula and TV Pirveli to cover Mtskhetoba

The Georgian Patriarchate will not grant accreditation to journalists from the television channels Formula and TV Pirveli to cover the Mtskhetoba holiday.

Archpriest Andria Jagmaidze, head of the Patriarchate’s Public Relations Service, stated this to Formula. According to him, journalists from these television channels “constantly violated internal regulations” and, despite numerous warnings, arbitrarily left the area designated for the media—which, in his assessment, is unacceptable and creates problems.

The Patriarchate’s refusal to accredit critical media outlets on similar grounds was also recorded in 2025. At that time, the Patriarchate stated that on October 14, in the courtyard of Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, camera crews from TV Pirveli and Formula violated internal rules and left the designated media zone without permission, as a result of which they would not receive accreditation for upcoming church holidays. The Patriarchate introduced additional regulations for the media starting in 2022. Journalists are required to obtain special accreditation to cover church events and are only permitted to work within pre-designated media areas.
